LifeLock doesn’t operate a VPN service. However, LifeLock partners with Norton to offer a bundled package called, “Norton 360 with LifeLock Select.”
LifeLock VPN vs NordVPN
Don’t buy Norton VPN from LifeLock until you compare it to industry-leading NordVPN.
I Want My VPN! (iwantmyvpn.com) recommends that you purchase your VPN service separately from your identity and credit protection services.
If you want to know why we recommend using NordVPN rather than Norton, read our article, “Norton VPN vs NordVPN.”
LifeLock VPN vs NordVPN
If you buy Norton 360 with LifeLock Select, you get “protection” for up to five PCs, Macs, smartphones, or tablets.
What does this protection include?
- Real-time Threat Protection.
- Parental Control.
- 100GB Cloud Backup.
- Secure VPN.
- Password Manager.
- LifeLock Identity Alert™ System.
- Credit Monitoring.
- Million Dollar Protection™ Package.
So, since this package includes Norton Secure VPN, you could describe it as the “LifeLock VPN.”
Rush Limbaugh, a well-known talk show host, publicized the Norton Secure VPN product by advertising it on his nationally syndicated radio show.
What’s Wrong with LifeLock?
We don’t have a problem with LifeLock’s credit monitoring and identity protection products.
However, we cannot recommend Norton 360 with LifeLock Select because it includes Norton VPN. As previously reported, Norton VPN potentially has major privacy and security flaws. In other words, you can’t depend on Norton Secure VPN to either give you online anonymity or protect your online activities.
Furthermore, Norton VPN maintains log files that governments, government agencies, and attorneys can use to incriminate you in civil and criminal legal actions.
Why Does LifeLock Sell Norton Secure VPN?
Symantec, the owners of the Norton trademark, bought LifeLock in a $2.3 billion deal that merged the two firms. The new company, NortonLifeLock Inc, offers LifeLock- and Norton-branded digital products.
According to CNBC, Symantec hopes that the acquisition of LifeLock will help the company compensate for its rapidly declining sales of Norton-branded security products.
One of the basic products of NortonLifeLock Inc. is Norton 360 with LifeLock Select. The product combines LifeLock’s credit monitoring and identity protection services with Symantec’s less-than-private VPN service, Norton Secure VPN.
