OpenConnect for iOS GitHub
You can view the source code for the official OpenConnect for iOS app by visiting GitHub.
There, you’ll find directions for configuring your OpenConnect server. You’ll also find the code that you can compile using Xcode.
GitHub also hosts the OpenConnect VPN project. This page provides downloads for the GUI client as well as related projects.

OpenConnect and iOS
TorGuard’s implementation of OpenConnect supports all available TorGuard products. It also supports Mac OSX, Windows, and Linux. For Apple devices that run iOS, however, there’s a different story.
The TorGuard iOS app does not support OpenConnect.
As a matter of fact, the iOS app from TorGuard currently supports IPsec and ikev2. Using those protocols, you can enjoy robust security, privacy, and anonymity. Still, OpenConnect offers some advantages over IPsec and ikev2.
For example, OpenConnect maximizes the amount of usable bandwidth and thereby can increase effective operating speeds for VPN users.
OpenConnect users can also avoid ISP throttling because TorGuard’s implementation uses a second SSH tunnel.
Traffic coming from OpenConnect clients appears as normal SSL data, meaning that ISPs and communist-operated firewalls (such as China’s “Golden Shield”). OpenConnect data is encrypted using AES-256-GCM.
In other words, it’s nice to have OpenConnect available. Here, we’re going to show you the VPN how-to’s behind OpenConnect iOS.
Using OpenConnect with iOS
Developers created OpenConnect as an open-source replacement for Cisco’s AnyConnect protocol.
So, technically, OpenConnect iOS is not available at all.
Still, you can achieve similar performance and security gains by using TorGuard’s AnyConnect implementation.
Install the Cisco AnyConnect app from the Apple App Store.
Open the app.
Tap on the “Connections” line, where the app says “No Connections.”
Next tap, “Add VPN Connection.”
In the “Description” field, type “TorGuard VPN” (or any other identifier).
In the “Server Address” field, enter the TorGuard AnyConnect server that you desire. To find servers, visit the TorGuard servers list and scroll to the bottom of the page.
Next, tap the “Advanced” field. Change the “Certificate” field from “Automatic” to “Disabled.”
Tap the “Advanced” link at the top left.
Next, tap the “Add VPN Connection” link at the top left of your screen.
On the “AnyConnect Would Like to Add VPN Configurations” popup, tap “Allow.”
Enter your iPhone passcode to add VPN Configurations.
Back on the AnyConnect screen, slide the “AnyConnect” VPN slider to “On” (green).
On the “Untrusted Server” popup, tap “Continue.”
Enter your TorGuard User Name in the “Username” field and then tap “Done.”
Enter your TorGuard password in the “Password” field. Tap the “Connect” link at the top right of your screen.
Congratulations! You have now updated the AnyConnect protocol for iOS using TorGuard.
