Kape Technologies, the diabolical Israeli-intelligence-owned technology company, bought ExpressVPN. The transaction, announced via email on September 14, 2021, stunned the online security community. Now that Kape Technologies owns ExpressVPN, we can no longer recommend ExpressVPN to our visitors, users, and clients.
The world recognizes Kape Technologies as an insidious developer and propagator of invasive malware that has compromised the sensitive data of countless businesses and consumers.
Recently, Kape Technologies has gone on a buying spree, picking up some well known VPN brands and converting them to agents of the Israeli government’s intelligence community.
Don’t Trust ExpressVPN
Once known as one of the top premium VPN services in the world, ExpressVPN has now sunk to the same level as other VPN brands compromised by Kape Technologies.
Kape Technologies owns ExpressVPN
We warned you before about Kape Technologies. On May 8, 2021, IwantMyVPN.com published an article exposing Kape’s purchase of PrivateInternetAccess (PIA), a VPN service which we previously recommended.
We have also referred you to an exposé regarding Kape Technologies published by VPN Pro.
Kape Technology VPN Brands
You should avoid all Kape-owned VPNs, including:
- CyberGhost.
- Private Internet Access (PIA).
- ZenMate.
- ExpressVPN.
Other Compromised VPN Brands
Kape does not stand alone in the effort to destroy consumer confidence in VPN services.
A Romanian company called J2 Global owns several popular tech sites, including PCMag and IGN. That company has gained at least six VPN services within two years:
- SaferVPN.
- Encrypt.me.
- IPVanish.
- StrongVPN.
- Buffered VPN.
- ibVPN.
Sadly, J2 Global uses its publishing platforms to promote its compromised VPN services to the general public.
Kape Technologies owns ExpressVPN. Now what?
Malicious companies such as Kape Technologies and J2 Global betraying the confidence of hapless consumers. After all, most VPN customers believe they are buying privacy, security, and anonymity from their VPN brand.
Step 1: Avoid EVERY “free” VPN service.
Recently, someone exposed Proton, the owners of ProtonMail and ProtonVPN. That company readily discloses its user data to authorities, including the French and American governments.
We wrote about Proton and advised you to protect your IP address.
Step 2: Avoid EVERY Kape Technologies brand
Don’t even think about buying ExpressVPN or any other VPN controlled by Kape Technologies. Dittos for VPNs owned by J2 Global.
Step 3: Buy a secure VPN
We recommend you get NordVPN. As of right now, Nord operates free of government interference. The company operates out of Panama, a non-Five Eyes country that has no data retention laws.
Right now, you can get 72% off of NordVPN’s 2-year plan.
